HOME > Stroke motor features
The electric cylinder (stroke motor) is superbly water resistant, achieving an astounding IP68 rating (except for some models).
Furthermore, it has excellent temperature characteristics and weather resistance, and is mounted on a wide range of equipment used outdoors such as agricultural machinery, specially-equipped vehicles and construction machinery.
Unlike pneumatics and hydraulics, electric cylinders require no pipes, making them easy to install and economical when combined with a simple design.
With a water-resistant construction, these cylinders can be used outdoors, on specialized vehicles and countless other places. They are also highly weather-resistant, making them suited for use in cold climates.
With a control unit (Stroke motor hand switch with cable), you will be able to control the linear action of a Stroke motor remotely with ease.
Stroke motors contain a torque-limiting clutch and if external force exceeds the clutch’s transfer capacity, it will automatically slip and protect the motor from damage.
Stroke motors use either a 12V or 24V DC power supply, which means they can use automotive batteries as a power source.
The use of a 30°trapezoidal screw means that the slide position will be held firmly in place.
“Pneumatic cylinders often act up if dust gets into them.”
“We’re worried about the environmental impact of oil leaking from hydraulic cylinders, so we’re looking for a replacement.”
For these and other reasons, more and more people are switching to electric cylinders.
Because they don’t need pipes, electric cylinders are easy to install and bring costs down, plus they can be used in a wide array of environments and applications. If you’re considering a replacement for pneumatics or hydraulics, please test out NIKKEN Stroke motors.
We can suggest the right electric cylinder for you depending on your operating environment and product it will be installed into.
